Bio

Kara has worked for the Department of Economic Development since 2019. She began her career as an incentive specialist with the Business and Community Solutions Division and now serves as the accountant for the Division of Tourism. In her current role, Kara handles various aspects of governmental accounting, including managing public funds, ensuring compliance with GAAP and state regulations, preparing financial reports, and supporting the budgetary process to promote transparency and accountability within the department. Kara holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA with an emphasis in accounting, both from Lincoln University. She is actively involved in the Mid-Missouri Chapter of AGA and the Jefferson City Chamber’s Young Professionals group.
