Jim Plassmeyer

Jim was appointed as program director for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Soil and Water Conservation Program in June 2022. Prior to the appointment, Jim was an Environmental Program Manager with more than 26 years of experience. Jim led and participated in most areas of the program during his career while also gaining hands-on knowledge about Missouri’s different agriculture sectors. Jim leads a team of 21 staff responsible for managing a portion of the Parks, Soils, and Water Sales Tax that assists Missouri agricultural landowners in reducing soil erosion and improving water quality. In Jim’s years of service with the program, he’s worked on policy development for cost-share practices and soil and water district operations. Jim also coordinates with other programs in DNR and outside stakeholders on education and implementation of new cost-share practices. Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
