Mimi Nazu currently serves as Assistant Warden at the Missouri Eastern Correctional Center since July 2021. MECC is an 1100-bed male medium-level facility. Mimi is responsible for and overall management of classification staff. She also oversees the offender population and the units in which they reside. As an administrator, Mimi is fully involved in the recruitment process of custody staff and works cohesively with others for the implementation of best practices. Mimi began her career with the Department of Corrections as an officer I at Algoa Correctional Center in August 2004. She was promoted to Sergeant, Case Manager I and II, Functional Unit Manager. Mimi earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology from Columbia College and moved on to earn her Masters in Public Affairs with an emphasis in Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
