Jon Nelson is the Assistant to the State Highway Safety and Traffic Engineer for MoDOT. In this role, Jon helps champion the department’s highway safety efforts, including the development of the state’s strategic highway safety plan, Show-Me Zero. Jon frequently collaborates with safety partners throughout the state to implement both infrastructure and behavioral solutions to reduce traffic fatalities on Missouri roadways. This includes administering federal safety programs made available through the Federal Highway Administration, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Jon has worked for MoDOT since graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and he is a registered professional engineer in the state of Missouri.
