Heather Cofer serves as Deputy Warden of Offender Management at the Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center. ERDCC is a 2684 bed medium/maximum level facility that serves as the point of admission for male offenders committed by the courts in eastern Missouri. Heather is responsible for the overall management of both custody and classification staff. She also oversees the offender population and the units in which they reside. She began her career with the Missouri Department of Corrections in 1996 earning several promotions leading up to her advancement to Deputy Warden in early 2020. Heather earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Central Methodist University. She is a member of the United States Deputy Warden’s Association, American Correctional Association, Missouri Corrections Association, Missouri Association of Workforce Development, and the St. Francois County Community Partnership. Heather also works with local families providing contract services through the Missouri Department of Social Services – Children Division.
