As Environmental Compliance Manager for Missouri Department of Transportation, Melissa is responsible for overseeing compliance with state and federal requirements under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). NEPA established the national policy to protect the environment, including the assessment of impacts of all major federal actions. She and her team review state and local road and bridge projects to assess impacts to the environmental resources, assist in determining how best to proceed to ensure impacts to the environment are minimized and mitigated to the extent practicable, and perform a coordinated review process with other agencies and the public. Melissa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Avila University, in Kansas City, MO and her Masters of Science degree in Biology from Missouri State University, in Springfield, MO.
