Laura Hammon joined the Department of Mental Health (DMH), Division of Developmental Disabilities, 2018 and serves as the State Lead for Inquiry Coordination working from the Rolla Satellite Office. Laura started with DMH as a local Inquiry Coordinator. Her leadership was quickly recognized, and she was later promoted to State Lead over the same division. Laura is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of individuals with intellectual and developmental diagnoses throughout the state. In her role, Laura provides supervision and guidance to the statewide inquiry coordination team in regional offices and state-operated facilities. She also maintains a positive and effective working relationship with local community leaders, county boards, providers, targeted case management entities, and other state agencies. Laura provides high ethical standards while treating her co-workers and community with compassion and respect. Before working at DMH, Laura had experience in local law enforcement as a juvenile officer and a foster care case manager. Laura earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice & Psychology from Columbia College and is a Missouri Post Certified Police Officer. Laura is a DMH Leadership Academy Graduate, received the Employee of the Year award with DMH in 2023, and was Valedictorian of her Law Enforcement Academy.
