Chris Wieberg currently serves as the Deputy Director for the Missouri Geological Survey within the Missouri Department of Natural Resources overseeing the Water Resources Center, the Soil and Water Conservation Program and the Dam and Reservoir Safety Program. Chris began his career with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in 2004, as a Soil and Water District Coordinator. He worked in the Water Protection Program in various capacities. Chris served as the director of the Water Protection Program from August 2017 - March 2023. While serving as the Water Protection Program Director, Chris attended the Missouri Leadership Academy. Throughout his career, Chris worked to manage the state’s water resources by advocating for soil and water conservation, creating a strong water pollution regulatory framework and protecting groundwater through proper well construction standards. He is passionate about supporting our team to achieve natural resource management, government transparency, accountability to the public and our mission. Chris holds a degree in agriculture from Lincoln University.

Chris’s biggest takeaway from Missouri Leadership Academy is that if we focus on the people, we will be more effective and achieve great things.
